During the On-Site Review, an OAZE auditor experiences your location as a guest would. We observe atmosphere, spatial design, guest flow and communication touchpoints, using the Presence Index as a qualitative reflection framework. This is not a checklist inspection, but a human-centered observation focused on intention, coherence and lived experience.
No. OAZE does not require digital purity. We look at how intentionally your place fosters offline-friendly environments, through design, atmosphere, guest flow, rituals and communication. It’s about encouraging presence and human connection, not eliminating phones altogether.
OAZE provides guidance throughout the certification journey by offering a clear framework, reflection moments and feedback. Our role is to help you understand, articulate and strengthen your offline intention, not to dictate how your place should look or operate.
Not passing the first time is part of the process. You receive clear feedback and concrete guidance on what needs clarification or strengthening. After adjustments, re-evaluation is possible. OAZE is designed as a learning and development framework. We will help out to achieve the standards.
OAZE brings together a wide range of places, from cafés and restaurants to retreats, studios, cultural spaces and slow events. What matters is not the category, but a shared commitment to attention, presence and meaningful human connection.

The review score is principle-based, not rigid. It allows for variation between places, a quiet cabin and a lively café can both qualify. The focus is on intention, coherence and clarity, not on reaching a fixed score or idealized format.
The certification process typically takes **6 to 12 weeks**, depending on the type of location, readiness and scheduling. OAZE works in two phases: an intake and a deepening phase. Allowing the process to move at a pace that fits your place while maintaining clarity and consistency.
Certification is renewed annually to ensure continuity and credibility. Renewal focuses on confirming that the offline-friendly intention remains visible and aligned, without repeating the full certification process. However certifitcation standards can grow in time.
Because there is currently no trusted standard for offline presence. OAZE certification provides independent validation, shared language and credibility, offering visitors clarity about what to expect before, during and after their visit. It turns intention into a recognizable and trustworthy commitment. And it makes you stand out from others in your market.
